Karin Lopper-ORR, Executive Director of The Blick Center, provides I/DD professionals with the basics they need to know in order to support people receiving Mental Health services. A significant percentage of people with disabilities have a co-occurring mental health diagnosis or trauma that requires them to seek the services of a mental health professional. A good foundation in ways to best support these people will help I/DD professionals better ensure health and well-being. Karin provides an overview of the different focuses, objectives, funding and requirements between the two systems and explains how a professional can help bridge the gaps to best support a person being served in both systems.
