OADSP Executive Director Bethany Toledo and collaborators authored this white paper to help stakeholders understand the unique challenges facing the I/DD workforce in Ohio, and to provide recommendations for implementing evidence-based practices with solution-driven outcomes. These recommendations include building on existing structures in Ohio, and integrating new research-based methodologies, to create true competency-based career pathways within the I/DD field. If structured and supported correctly, these pathways can lead to higher wages – based on skills and competency – and launch overhauling efforts for a multitude of other areas in the industry, including supervisory, behavior, and programming support roles.
